Patra vs MXroute, fact by fact.
Patra and MXroute both charge by storage, not per person. Patra’s list prices are lower at 10 GB and 25 GB and the same at 50 GB, before tax. MXroute suits teams that need higher sending limits, more than 50 GB, POP3 or a white-label reseller panel on their own domain, but it has no free trial.
Both have unlimited mailboxes and domains (at Patra, within fair use: up to 1,000 mailboxes and 100 domains). Patra adds a 14-day free trial, two-step sign-in for mailboxes, built-in automations and a setup page for each person’s phone and computer.

What a 5-person team pays for a year.
Both bills depend on how much mail your team keeps, not on how many people you add. Here are three storage needs for a team of five, at list prices checked on 16 October 2026.
| Storage for five people | Patra | MXroute | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 GB each: 5 × 2 GB = 10 GB | US$35 a year on the 10 GB plan, plus applicable tax. Per person: US$35 ÷ 5 = US$7.00. | US$59 a year on Small (10 GB). Per person: US$59 ÷ 5 = US$11.80. | US$59 − US$35 = US$24 a year less with Patra, before tax |
| 5 GB each: 5 × 5 GB = 25 GB | US$49 a year on the 25 GB plan, plus applicable tax. Per person: US$49 ÷ 5 = US$9.80. | US$69 a year on Medium (25 GB). Per person: US$69 ÷ 5 = US$13.80. | US$69 − US$49 = US$20 a year less with Patra, before tax |
| 10 GB each: 5 × 10 GB = 50 GB | US$79 a year on the 50 GB plan, plus applicable tax. Per person: US$79 ÷ 5 = US$15.80. | US$79 a year on Large (50 GB). Per person: US$79 ÷ 5 = US$15.80. | The same list price, before tax |

How much does MXroute cost compared with Patra?
Both charge a yearly price per account, by storage. For 10, 25 and 50 GB, MXroute lists US$59, US$69 and US$79 a year, and Patra US$35, US$49 and US$79, plus applicable tax. MXroute says it adds no VAT or similar taxes. A team of five needing 25 GB pays US$69 a year with MXroute or US$49 plus applicable tax with Patra. Prices checked on 16 October 2026.
Does MXroute charge per user?
No. MXroute prices by storage, with “no per-seat charges” and unlimited domains and mailboxes within your storage. Patra works the same way: one price for the whole account, with unlimited mailboxes and domains within fair use (up to 1,000 mailboxes and 100 domains).
Does MXroute have a free trial?
No. MXroute’s FAQ says it doesn’t offer a free trial, and its refund policy says it doesn’t give refunds. Patra is free for 14 days with no payment details, and Patra’s Refund Policy says the first payment is refunded in full if you ask within 14 days of it.
Does MXroute have two-step sign-in for mailboxes?
Not according to its docs. MXroute’s two-step sign-in protects the management account, where you pay invoices and open the control panel. Its docs say this is separate from mailbox sign-in, and that IMAP, POP3 and SMTP can’t support true two-factor authentication. Patra has two-step sign-in for the admin console and for each mailbox in webmail, with app passwords for mail apps.
Can I send newsletters or marketing email with MXroute or Patra?
Not marketing email: neither service allows it. MXroute’s pages differ on newsletters: its pre-sales FAQ rules them out, while its marketing policy allows non-promotional ones. Patra is for person-to-person business mail, so newsletters, marketing, cold outreach and purchased lists aren’t allowed. Use a dedicated email marketing service for those.
Which has higher sending limits, MXroute or Patra?
MXroute. Each MXroute mailbox can send 400 emails an hour, with a daily allowance of up to 9,600. Patra allows 400 recipients an hour and 1,000 a day per address, within a daily total for the whole account of 400, 600 or 1,000 recipients, depending on the plan.
Can I resell email under my own brand with MXroute or Patra?
Yes, with both. MXroute’s reseller plans start at US$45 a quarter for 150 GB (a smaller plan was out of stock on 16 October 2026), with a white-label panel on your own domain, customer logins and branded webmail. Patra’s partner pools start at 75 GB, with prices on request, and show your brand on your clients’ admin console, sign-in page, setup pages and emails; webmail, server names and DNS records still show Patra.
How do I move from MXroute to Patra?
Set Patra up next to MXroute, add the DNS records, add your people and switch your MX record. Then each person imports their mail over IMAP from their setup page, choosing Another provider and MXroute’s IMAP server. MXroute’s billing policy says to cancel at least 8 days before renewal to avoid the renewal charge, and its cancellation guide notes that cancelling can permanently delete your email, so finish every import first.
