    Create your account. It’s free for 14 days, and no payment is needed to start. We review new accounts before they can send mail; you can receive mail and set everything up in the meantime.

  2. Step 2: Add your domain

    Patra shows the exact DNS records to add and checks each one. If someone else manages your DNS, send them a link.

  3. Step 3: Add your people

    Create mailboxes, aliases and groups one by one or from a CSV file. Each person gets a setup link to choose their own password.

  4. Step 4: Switch your mail

    When your team is ready, point your domain’s MX record (the setting that tells the internet where to deliver its mail) to Patra. Until then, mail keeps arriving where it does today.

Can I keep my current email while I set up?

Yes. Mail keeps going to your current provider until you point your domain’s MX record (the setting that tells the internet where to deliver your mail) to Patra, so you can set everything up first.

What do I need to get started?

A domain you own, like yourcompany.com, and access to its DNS settings. If someone else manages your DNS, Patra gives you a link to send them.

Can I bring my old mail?

Yes. Once your MX record points to Patra, each person can import their mail from Gmail and Google Workspace, Zoho, GoDaddy, Titan, Hostinger, Rediffmail Pro, Yahoo, Fastmail and other providers that allow IMAP access. Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com mailboxes can’t be imported this way; here’s how to move them.

Which apps work with Patra?

Webmail in any browser, plus any mail app that supports IMAP and SMTP, including Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird and the Gmail app on Android. Setup pages walk each person through their phone and computer, with a settings profile for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

How does pricing work?

You pay per account for storage, not per person. Plans start at US$35 a year for 10 GB, plus applicable tax, and every plan includes unlimited mailboxes and domains that share its storage (fair use: up to 1,000 mailboxes and 100 domains). Plans are billed yearly. Prices are in US dollars; Paddle, our merchant of record, shows your local currency at checkout where available and adds any tax that applies. Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every plan is free for 14 days, and no payment is needed to start.

Can I send newsletters or marketing email?

No. Patra is for person-to-person business mail. Bulk mail, marketing and cold outreach aren’t allowed (see our Acceptable Use Policy). Each address can send to up to 400 recipients an hour, within your plan’s daily total. Each recipient counts as one email.

How is my mail protected?

Encrypted (TLS) connections for webmail, mail apps and the admin console, DKIM signing with SPF and DMARC, spam and phishing filtering, and two-step sign-in for admins. Backups run every 6 hours and are kept for 35 days, with point-in-time recovery for 14 days.

Where is my data stored?

Our Subprocessors page lists the providers that process personal data for us, what each one does and where it processes data.

Can I cancel?

Yes, at any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for. See our Refund Policy.
