Set up Patra email in Outlook

Outlook works with your Patra address over IMAP. Choose your version below.

Before the switch. Until your domain’s MX record points to Patra, some mail apps suggest your old provider’s servers. Check that both the incoming and the outgoing server say mail.trypatra.com before you finish.

Before you start

  • If your domain has the optional Outlook setup record, Outlook may find your settings from just your address and password.
  • If Outlook asks to let autodiscover.trypatra.com configure your settings, allow it.
  • If it doesn’t find your settings, enter them by hand: they’re in Settings below.

New Outlook for Windows

  1. Open Settings (the gear), then Accounts, then Email accounts, then Add account.
  2. Enter your email address, then Continue.
  3. If Outlook asks you to choose an account type, choose IMAP.
  4. Enter your password and, if asked, the server settings below.

Classic Outlook for Windows

  1. Go to File, then Add Account and enter your email address.
  2. Choose Advanced options, then Let me set up my account manually, then Connect.
  3. Choose IMAP and enter: incoming mail.trypatra.com, port 993, SSL/TLS; outgoing mail.trypatra.com, port 465, SSL/TLS. Leave Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) unticked.
  4. Choose Next, enter your password, then Connect.

Outlook for Mac

  1. Go to Outlook, then Settings, then Accounts, then +, then New Account.
  2. Enter your email address, then Continue.
  3. If Outlook suggests the wrong provider, use the link to choose another one, then IMAP.
  4. Enter the settings below and your password, then Add Account.

Outlook on iPhone or Android

  1. Add an email account.
  2. If Outlook doesn’t find the settings, set the account up manually and choose IMAP.
  3. Enter the settings below.

POP3 isn’t available. Use IMAP, which keeps your mail in sync on every device.

Moving from Microsoft 365? If Outlook keeps opening your old Microsoft 365 account, remove your domain from Microsoft 365 once everyone has moved. See Moving from Microsoft 365.
